Prathipa Santhanam, MD, received her undergraduate degree in Singapore. She then earned her doctoral degree from the PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in India. Dr. Santhanam completed her pediatric residency at the Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. She completed her ACGME Fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at UNC, Chapel Hill.  She was awarded the 2022 Walter Tunnessen Award for Best Clinical Science Research at UNC. 

 Dr Santhanam is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a member of several societies, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, and American Gastroenterological Association.  

 She sees patients with a variety of gastrointestinal conditions, including abdominal pain, constipation, nausea, vomiting, eosinophilic esophagitis, IBD and others. She has a special interest in treating patients with nutritional disorders and intestinal failure.
