Laura Hetzler, MD, FACS is dual Board Certified in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. She received her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed an internship in General Surgery at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. She completed her residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Loyola University in Chicago, IL. Dr. Hetzler then pursued advanced training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery by completing a Fellowship at University of California, Davis in Sacramento, with a focus on cleft lip and palate surgery. Dr. Hetzler is full time faculty and Associate Professor for LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and is the Program Director for the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery residency. Dr. Hetzler began building the Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital Cleft and Craniofacial team shortly after her arrival in 2010 and is currently the team director for the clinic. Dr. Hetzler avidly participates in humanitarian missions around the world including China, Central America and South America for cleft lip and palate surgical teams. Dr Hetzler also cares for victims of trauma as well as other congenital and acquired deformities, facial nerve paralysis and cancer reconstruction. Dr. Hetzler wanted to be a physician from a young age and feels it is a privilege to be a servant every day.
