Elizabeth Alonso, MD, is a board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist with extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of complex digestive and nutritional disorders in children and adolescents. 

Dr. Alonso earned her medical degree from Universidad Libre in Cali, Colombia, and completed pediatric residency training in Colombia and at Tulane University in New Orleans. She went on to complete a combined pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition fellowship through LSU and Tulane University. She is board certified in both general pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology by the American Board of Pediatrics. 

Dr. Alonso's clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, chronic abdominal pain, food allergies, liver disease, and other complex gastrointestinal conditions. 

She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. Dr. Alonso is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to children and families throughout Louisiana.
