Dr. Ferrell is a native of Baton Rouge, and graduated with Honors from LSU with a BS in Microbiology in 1995. She received her medical degree from LSU-HSC in New Orleans in 2000, where she achieved membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Ferrell completed her residency in Pediatrics at UAB in Birmingham, Alabama in 2003. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and has maintained her certification with The American Board of Pediatrics throughout her time in practice. Prior to joining Our Lady of the Lake, Dr. Ferrell practiced pediatrics in a large group setting before opening her solo practice, Butterfly Pediatrics, in 2014. Dr. Ferrell pursued medicine to be able to do something meaningful for people, and feels healing the sick to be very rewarding. Along with her medical expertise, Dr. Ferrell brings with her the invaluable experience of balancing her career and family with her husband, Ben, and their three boys.
